Bar Carts

I love this bar cart.  The white walls, the wood floor, the incredible print and the bar cart so perfect.
What a great look, the chalkboard wall with globes.  This is my kind of classroom.
 Vintage.
 Oh the orange.
All of these bar carts can be purchased at Society Social, I better start saving up for one of these beauties.

BoY CrusH

I am so crushing on Jamie Oliver.  A British Man who can cook, wants to help our children learn to eat healthy and he uses Instagram, what's not to love?

Summer Party Ideas

 Some spikes lemonade
 or some adult Popsicle's
 delicious sandwiches
personal pie slices are perfect

when enjoying an outdoor movie.

A Weighty Issue

Recently, I was having a discussion about weight, metabolism and body images with some girls at work.  These women are beautiful, strong, healthy woman.  It amazes me how much time and energy they spend thinking about their bodies.  I do believe that our body types and metabolisms are somewhat genetic but that doesn’t mean we are doomed nor does it mean that thin people don’t have to work hard to maintain their figure.  I see how my thin friends watch what they eat, deprive themselves of sweets and get up at the crack of dawn to work out before work.
However, what surprises me most is how my friends, who are beautiful with bodies anyone would kill for, are treated.  Some woman can be so hateful and jealous.  I have seen people pass by them and give them dirty looks or not even acknowledge their existence because they feel threatened.  Sometimes we can't even go for a walk without some creepy guy following us and God forbid you have a supervisor and anyone else who has control over your career who feels threatened by a beautiful woman.
I have fought many battles being overweight and it isn't easy but what I learned is it isn't easy having what is perceived as a perfect body either.  Woman can be cruel and judgemental and men can perceive you has an object of beauty instead of a person.  I used to think that as long as you can fit into J Crew clothes then life can't be too hard.  You never really know the battles other have to face.

Gratitude

From Gratefulness, The Heart of Prayer by Brother David Steindl-Rast
"Ordinary happiness depends on happenstance.
Joy is that extraordinary happiness that is independent of what happens to us.
Good luck can make us happy, but it cannot give us lasting joy. The root of joy is gratefulness. We tend to misunderstand the link between joy and gratefulness. We notice that joyful people are grateful and suppose that they are grateful for their joy. But the reverse is true: their joy springs from gratefulness. If one has all the good luck in the world, but takes it for granted, it will not give one joy. Yet even bad luck will give joy to those who manage to be grateful for it.

We hold the key to lasting happiness in our own hands. For it is not joy that makes us grateful; it is gratitude that makes us joyful."

Field Trip Time

I love this kid so much.  He challenges me in ways I never thought possible but I kind of love that tenacity about him.

My children seem to be growing up fast and no matter how much I dread field trips I decided I better go on Ryan's because this will probably be his last.  We went to Niagara Falls and turned out to be really fun.  It was a beautiful day and nice to just spend the day with my boy.
Niagara Falls is incredible.  I forget sometimes because living so close you see it often and begin to take it for granted but the beauty and power is so amazing.  It truly is something you need to see to appreciate the magnitude of the Falls.

Lego Moleskine

I love Moleskine notebooks and journals and so do my boys.  My children are constantly writing down all kids of ideas, songs, list and stories.  We were all so excited when we found these Moleskine Lego journals at Barnes and Noble.  They really encourage children to be creative and to write.

Boat Shoes

Have you seen all the boat shoes around lately?  I used to love these when I was in like eighth grade I am so glad they are making a come back with some really great prints and materials.  The boat shoes above are all from Sperry and they aren't just for your Grandmother anymore.

Sunday Morning

Spent my rainy Sunday morning drinking tea and watching Tiny Furniture.  It is available on Netflix right now.  With all the hype around the HBO show Girls I thought I would check it out.  It was pretty interesting.
