Monday, Monday!
I have basically been home sick all weekend, coughing, runny nose and sore throat. That kind of sickness were nothing taste good, but despite that I can't stop thinking about this Lobster & Ricotta Pizza from Wit and Delight. It look amazing, I must try this very soon. I never would have thought to add ricotta and feta together along with lobster, avocado, prosciutto, basil, red peppers and to top it off with an egg, oh my, it sounds orgasmic.

Michael Pollen
I have been thinking about food a lot lately, who am I kidding, I am always thinking about food. However, I have been reading and re-reading Michael Pollen books hoping everything will sink in. Awhile ago my children and I watched Food, Inc and I was so proud of my son when he decided to give up fast food. When I grew up, I don't think my parents really thought about where our food was coming from. I know my children have better eating habits then I did when I was a child, I actually think they have better eating habits then I do know. So I am going to try and spend this spring and summer focusing on some of Michael Pollen's food rules and buying as much food as we can at the local farmer's market and farms.
My Focus
1. Eat food, not to much, mostly plants.
2. Don't eat anything with more then five ingredients, especially ingredients you can't pronounce.
3. Stay out of the middle of the supermarket, sick to the perimeter because that tends to be where the real food is located.
4. "Always leave the table a little hungry", this one seems hard but I will try.
By the way aren't the illustrations from Michael Pollen's new book beautiful and what a great way to give children an understanding about food.

I Need Chairs
I can't stop thinking about metal chairs for my kitchen table. They look so clean, fresh and modern. Also, I am thinking they will hold up to the three boys in this house who just cannot sit still. The whole reason I need new chairs is because the boys are constantly leaning back in the chairs. It drives me crazy! I really like the look of metal chairs with a dark wood table.

Happy Weekend
This weekend I'm looking forward to celebrating my Sister's birthday.
Hopefully getting some cleaning and organizing done.
Seriously these are so delicious, I must hide them from the boys and my Dad.

Seabar
Tuesday night I was lucky enough to have a much needed Girls Night Out, which means good food, good wine and most importantly great company. We decided to go to the restaurant Seabar, which is located at 475 Elliott Street. According to their website they specialize in innovative cuisine made with the freshest ingredients, concentrating in seafood and sushi. I can honestly say they deserve all the wonderful reviews they have received. The food was very fresh and modern. The flavors were amazing. In addition, I liked the fact that our server was extremely knowledgeable. She gave us really accurate and detailed descriptions of the food, the wine and the cocktails.
My cute coworker and friend, Jaclyn.
However, one of the best things I have ever tasted in my life happens to be the Chicken and Waffles. The waffles are savory and served with maple butter then piled high with chicken.
Udon Noodles with Shrimp Tempura
Seafood Tacos
Raw Tuna, Avocado and Salsa (so good)
Vegetable and Salmon Rolls

They tasted like the perfect mix of savory and sweet Asian flavors and the chicken was so moist and cooked perfectly.
You know the dish is special when you spend the next day sitting at your desk thinking about how you can get your hands on some Chicken & Waffles.

Hooked on Houses
Have you ever been to this site called Hooked on House? If you go there be prepared to spend a lot of time browsing through the many homes of celebrities, TV/movie houses, before and afters and even funny real estate photos taken from real listings.
I really want to live in the house from "Something's Gotta Give"
Cook in the kitchen from "It's Complicated" with Meryl of course.
And be one of Nora Walker's children, from "Brothers and Sisters", so I can spend holidays here.

A View From My Office
Buffalo is a great city but it is one of those cities that doesn't really know how to reinvent itself after all the big industry left. I guess it takes money, which the city doesn't have, and some really well thought out planing, Buffalo has so much going for it because it is located right on Lake Erie and it is so close to Canada. I guess the city just needs to figure out a way to incorporate their history while moving forward.
